Havel’s place
The symbolic date of 17th November 2022, the anniversary of the Velvet Revolution, was chosen for the unveiling ceremony of Havel’s Place.
Its location was chosen with the intention to offer both closeness to the historic centre of the town with its tourist sights and a quiet corner to rest for the passing commuters. The Kutná Hora Havel’s Place “traditional” design by the Czech artist and architect Bořek Šípek incorporates two seats connected by means of a round table, through which a lime tree - the Czech national tree - grows. It was placed in the corner of the Komensky square and the Vysokokostelská lane.
The fund for Havel’s Place was set up in 2015 and 248,340 CZK were collected by September 2022. The rest of the
cost, totalling 319,440 CZK, was covered from the municipal budget.
